The tragic news from Oslo brought to light a problem with definitions in America. Anders Behring Breivik was correctly named as a right wing extremist. But this term has a different meaning in Europe than it does in America. In his 1500 page manifesto he clearly stated that he does not believe in religion and is himself not a follower of Christ. Americans can be forgiven for not knowing the original definition of right wing as the progressives worked very hard in the 20's and 30's to confuse it's definition as well as the definitions of liberal and progressive.
Hillary Clinton classified herself as a progressive, in the original meaning of progressive. We would do well to learn what that definition is because it is the progressives who seem to have control of the American political system right now. They are defining policy and especially education policy.
To get a clearer picture of what being a progressive means, try taking this quiz from the Center for American Progress to find out whether you are a (their definition) conservative or progressive. Let us know how you rated.

"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power." - Thomas Jefferson 1820

93/400 for me! Happy to see I am in good company! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeletevery conservative: 122/400...Interesting b/c I typically view mainstream conservatives as wanting to wield big gov't for their own social engineering purposes.
ReplyDelete295/400 for me, very progressive. I'm proud to be. I also have to agree with Anonymous that conservatives are wanting big government to control the masses and boost their conservative agenda. They could care less about the poor and sick. They only care about themselves. It all started with Ronnie and his gang with the I/ME bunch.
