"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power." - Thomas Jefferson 1820

"There is a growing technology of testing that permits us now to do in nanoseconds things that we shouldn't be doing at all." - Dr. Gerald Bracey author of Rotten Apples in Education

Bill Gates Promises More Money for Accelerated Common Core Implementation

Teachers, don't worry that your accountability will be based on assessments not yet written to be taught from curriculum not yet available and tests mandated to be taken on computers that are non-existent.  Bill Gates wants you to buy into his vision.  He's "here to help you".  It's sort of like "it's for the kids"From foundationcenter.org:

Gates Foundation Seeks Proposals to Accelerate Common Core Implementation Across Teacher Networks

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is accepting proposals from organizations, primarily those that consider themselves to be networks of teachers, to support implementation of Common Core State Standards in literacy and mathematics.

Through its Shifting into High Gear: Accelerating the Common Core Through Teacher Networks initiative, the foundation will award grants ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 to organizations working to accelerate implementation of the Common Core across a robust teacher network. Priority will be given to innovative approaches which create scalable solutions that travel across networks quickly and broadly.

To be eligible, organizations must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, as part of their core mission, organizations must actively engage large numbers of teachers around educational topics, issues, practices, research, and/or reform.
For eligibility and application guidelines, see the Gates Foundation Web site.

Don't you love that local control?  If you are against the buying of public education by special interests, sign this petition to get Missouri out of common core.
